Rome Industries 1605 Review by L. Aschoff (Nebraska)

My family love this item. It has been so much fun making different recipes while camping. We've used it many times and will use it so much more!! Thanks for a great product.

Rome Industries 1605 Review by momma24 (small town Missouri)

We have used this pie iron to make grilled ham and cheese sandwiches, fruit pies with bread, sausage links, and french toast. It has recipes for so many different foods that we know we can have fun learning to make new things. Like any pie iron it takes awhile to make enough food for a group of people, but it is easy and fun.

Rome Industries 1605 Review by Rick

My wife got to use a single sandwich pie-iron and thought she'd one-up that one with a double... Well, It does the trick, but is quite heavy. If you have something to rest it on within the fire, it will do the trick. Our handle on one of the sides separated after the first use which makes this a bit challenging to manage. I'm certain it is easy enough to fix if the pin that is supposed to hold it in place comes out, however it is disappointing to have to deal with something poorly put together after the first use. All-in-all, the sandwiches tasted great and my forearms got a good workout but the construction could have been quality checked a bit better.

OXO 1130900 Customer reviews

OXO 1130900 Review by Platinotype (The West)

There's a lot to like about this spatula--it's sharp, flexible, and just the right size, but the grip is not even slightly heat resistant. The first time you turn your back and leave it in the pan you'll melt the grip. As I multi-task in the kitchen, I often leave my spatula in the pan and so this otherwise great spatula now custom fits my hand. I'm going to replace it with something that has a composite handle it may not be as cushy in my hand, but I won't have the melted plastic attaching itself to the sides of my pan or molding itself to fit my hand. Just leaning the spatula against the pan with the handle touching the stove will make the handle soften and loosen on the handle.
Edit:
I've since bought the MIU spatula which is also sold on Amazon and its handle can take the heat and it's built better as well (solid piece of metal rather than the blade being spot welded to the handle) MIU Slotted Stainless Steel Flexible Turner, unfortunately it's about 2" shorter and I prefer the size of the Oxo. To the commenter who face-palms himself on a common way to use a kitchen tool, I've got dozens of other kitchen tools and this is the only one where the handle melts if you lean it against a pan or leave it in the pan as you attend to other chores. If you've got a place to the side of your stove to lay down your spatula and you'll never forget and leave it in the pan for even a few seconds or lean it against the pan then you won't need to worry about melting the handle and you should purchase and enjoy the spatula. On the other hand, if you expect more from your kitchen tools, you should look at something that is better designed to withstand normal kitchen use.
A second edit:
In February of 2011 I also purchased Tom Douglas by Pinzon Dexter-Russell Stainless-Steel Slotted Fish Turner which I like the best of the three that I bought. It is built in a similar manner to the MIU. It's a solid, sharp and flexible piece of steel, but it has wooden handles riveted so no worries about heat. I've donated the Good Grips turner--the handle would loosen and soften up in my hand just from using it in a hot pan and I found that as I got used to the shorter MIU and Dexter-Russel turners that I really didn't like the longer Good Grips one as it began to feel unwieldy. I do like Good Grips products: their salad spinner and vegetable peeler are great but this fish turner is a pass.

OXO 1130900 Review by vamommy (Midlothian, VA United States)

This is definitely one of my 5 favorite kitchen tools and possibly the one I use the most. I use mine every day - sometimes for more than one meal - and it still looks perfect. It bends JUST the right amount. It is useful for so many things I never used turners for before. The edge is excellent for chopping up browning burger and even for stirring. It is excellent for stir fry and many other dishes. This is my go to spatula for cooking. If mine were stolen today I would buy this exact same turner without hesitation.

OXO 1130900 Review by gpstogo "Lee" (Chicago, IL)

As usual, Oxo has made yet another great product. They seem to be able to design utensils for people who actually use them in everyday cooking unlike some other brands. This fish turner is larger than I'd anticipated and well made. The size makes it easy to pick up an entire filet or whole fish safely. Actually, I'm finding that I'm using it for other things as well. I have a toaster oven so the length of the turner makes it a breeze to reach into the oven and take out items. I'm also using it to retrieve other things from my regular oven as well so this has turned into a multiple use item rather than a specific utensil you use once in a blue moon.

Being all metal, this isn't a utensil for people who cook in non-stick pans though. If I use my seasoned cast iron pan, I admit I am careful not to dig into the seasoning layers but I haven't had the slightest problem doing that yet. Of course, there is nothing to worry about with stainless steel, etc. I'm pleased with this turner because its turned out to be a multi-use item which really helps in my small kitchen.

Gilden Tree CW521W Reviews

Gilden Tree CW521W Review by SAvery

I absolutely love these. They don't feel soft in the same way a regular towel does but they work so much better to get water off you. The larger version is really too large but the medium size is perfect for me to use as a regular towel.

Not sure how good it would be as a hair towel.

Gilden Tree CW521W Review by Bender

If you're thinking of switching to waffle-weave towels, I'd suggest buying one to start with. This is a well-made, handsome product, but it's definitely different from a terry towel. My wife says, "It's fine. I'd prefer a regular towel."

Gilden Tree CW521W Review by Beaumont Hardy "Beaumont Hardy Editing"

What a great idea these towels are! When I first received mine, they seemed disconcertingly thin and dish towel-like. But once I used one, I realized how gloriously innovative it is. Though thin, the towel is very "thirsty"; a few swipes will dry you completely. The towel dries in a few minutes, too, so it's never damp when you need to use again. And laundering these towels is thrilling. You can fit dozens of them into the washer, and you don't even need to use the dryer. I put mine on a clothes-drying rack, and they dry in a flash. Thick, puffy towels are a thing of the past, I say.

Breadman TR456 Panini Maker Description

With the Breadman countertop panini maker, you can create delicious café-style sandwiches whenever the spirit moves you. Best known for its line of bread machines, Breadman has designed the press with the aim of preserving bread's best qualities throughout the grilling process. The model features a floating hinge system that ensures even contact with the sandwich's surface; the resulting panini have crispy outsides and gently steamed ingredients in between. Suitable for single users or a group, the press accommodates up to two baguette or four sliced bread sandwiches at a time.

The press has several helpful structural details, like lights to indicate pre-heating or readiness and a cool-touch grip to protect your hands. Cord storage beneath and a locking handle make upright or flat storage easy, and the unit comes with nonskid feet to keep it stationary on the counter. Nonstick cooking plates simplify the clean-up portion of your meal, and the streamlined gray exterior blends in well with most kitchens. A handy asset for meals throughout the day, the panini maker measures 3-1/4 by 14-1/2 by 13 inches. --Emily Bedard

Customer Reviews

Breadman TR456 Review by Debbie Lee Wesselmann (the Lehigh Valley, PA)

The Breadman panini maker is a welcome addition to my kitchen. Unlike most other counter grills, it has a hinged top that adjusts to the size of the bread so it doesn't force the fillings out on one side. The nonstick surface makes cleaning relatively easy, although you need to run a damp paper towel between the grooves if you use butter. Sandwiches are crispy brown in about four minutes after placing them on the preheated grill. The grilling surface measures ten inches by twelve, enough room for four regular size sandwiches or two to three large ones. I have not tried to grill anything but panini, but I see no reason why it could not be used for other indoor grilling recipes.
Be creative with your combinations. Try maple honey turkey, smoked gouda, and chipotle mayonnaise on an Italian roll. Grilled vegetables and Boursin on focaccia. Pepperoni, provolone, ham, turkey, and tomato on slices of Italian bread. Buy or make fresh wholegrain loaves and slice them thickly, and fill. You will be limited only by your imagination and your tastes. For best results, the bread needs to be thick. Butter or olive oil helps with even browning, although you don't need to use either if you are watching fat intake.
This panini maker is not perfect. As other reviewers have noted, the lights are hard to see, and the only way to turn it on or off is to unplug it. But this is a sturdy grill that does its job well. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to bring a little pizzazz to soup and sandwich night.

Breadman TR456 Review by Dano (San Antonio, TX USA)

We are very happy with this unit. I was leaning toward the Krups but bought the Breadman on price. After buying and using the Breadman I compared it to the Krups unit and they are very similar in construction. The grills look identical. The Krups is a 1500 watt while the Breadman is 1400 watt. This unit makes great Panini - very crispy bread with nice grill pattern. Cooks fast in 4-5 minutes. Highly recommended!

Breadman TR456 Review by Dannyglide (North Carolina)

Readers please do not fear receiving your unit from Amazon. My grill arrived gift wrapped in the cutest blue bag with a light green satin sash. The box was packaged most carefully with plenty of air bags and was marked fragile on each side of the box.

I would not trade this panini maker for any other brand.

The heavy duty construction performs perfectly and your guests will consider you a gourmet when you present them with perfectly grilled cuisine. Using a panini is the only way to eat a sandwich, bar none. Cooks Illustrated recommends using a cast iron pan and a bacon press...WRONG...not the same effect. The grooves on the unit are perfectly placed and the heating element allows you the perfect temperature givng your sandwich a crunchy, crispy outside and moist and tender inside with gooey melted cheese. YUM

Also, the streamline size allows for easy storage.

Animal Day 751 Doormat Product reviews

Animal Day 751 Doormat Review by Michael Davis "ElderHope" (Rowlett, TX USA)

Our two Golden Retrievers placed this very cute doormat in front of our home's entrance to gain sympathy for their plight. Everyone who comes to the door sees this and immediately feels sorry for them (oh, yeah, they start laughing, too). But, it is we, their owners, who are held hostage.

Well made, very cute...

Animal Day 751 Doormat Review by H. McCann "eclectic_in_ga" (Atlanta, GA)

I love this doormat. It's a lot of fun, it's been very durable (have had it for several months with no fading in the writing), and so cute! A must for dog lovers. :)

Animal Day 751 Doormat Review by Lorac Benjamin (Parkland, Fl United States)

doormat is a little thin but written message is funny.
I did notice that the work 'squeek' is misspelled and should be
'squeak'. Most people ringing my doorbell don't even notice that. One person mentioned that there is too much to read. But I do like funny doormats. Haven't had chance to wash it yet.

EarthStone 750AZ002 Customer reviews

EarthStone 750AZ002 Review by Heddy

I purchased this product for myself a few years ago and found it to be the best item out there to clean our BBQ grill. I love it so much I purchased several grill blocks for both my son and daughter. Oh, and of course, several more for my husband and I. Can't say enough about it and we are completely and totally satisfied. Our BBQ grill looks brand new after using the grillstone. The Best!

EarthStone 750AZ002 Review by L. Stillwell (North Carolina)

Works great on the grill. We like it a lot better then a grill brush. I wish it lasted a little longer but it does clean really well.

EarthStone 750AZ002 Review by Grilling for the masses

For the $10.00 I spent for the 2 block kit including handle, I didn't think it was all that good. It cleaned the easy stuff off just fine, but some of the tougher grudge, the block just went away. By that, I mean that the block wore down to nothing in no time. I wanted to get the stains off of the grates. I have the Brinkman 4-burner gas grill with porcelain covered grates. It's had three meals grilled on it, and after each meal was a wash in dishwashing detergent and hot water. That left some stains on the grates. I was looking for something that would take the stains off also, as I want my grates CLEAN. The stones were useless for that.

Pure Komachi 2 Series Chef's Knife Description

Brilliant Monochromatic colors make the pure komachi 2 series a real eye-catcher. But all that fun-loving color has a serious purpose too. The color-coding makes it easy to choose the right knife for the job. It also helps guard against cross-contaminating food-for instance, by using the knife you've just used to cut meat on the vegetables. Kai Pure Komachi 2 AB5066 Review by LaxCoach37 "LaxCoach37" (North Carolina)

We bought an entire set of these Knives. I read the praise from other Reviewers and they are right. These are wicked sharp and as careful as I tried to be, still wound up cutting myself while cleaning one.

My gripe with these Knives are the Handle material. It is a Hard Plastic. It has no texture, design grip or rubberized coating, etc. It makes it not only feel super cheap, but outright dangerous for slipping when your hands are wet. I really was not expecting much for $8-10 a knife, but this is not something to overlook. The worst part is if the plastic gets a nick in it; you get a reminder of how cheap these knives are each time you use it, as the bur digs into you hand like a thorn. Sorry, Pure Komachi... I really wanted to like these Knives because the Blade is of fantastic high quality for the price.

Kai Pure Komachi 2 AB5066 Review by Loren Dale (Seattle)

We received a Shun santoku and this fuschia-colored Komachi last Christmas. The Shun is fantastic, but this knife gets used just as much. For some things, like cheese, fruitcake and other sticky foods, the Komachi is much better - slices thinly and cheese doesn't cling. It's lightweight and easy to control. We now have a few knives in the Komachi line and just love them (especially the bread knife) in spite of also owning and using the high-end Shun knives. At first, the bright colors of the Komachi were somewhat off-putting, but once we started using them we found them to be great, supersharp knives and there's no picking through the rack to find what one is looking for!

Many people rave about this product and talk about how it is a great knife for its price. Frankly, it is a great knife which I would have gladly paid much more for this knife. This knife is always dirty at our hose because we use it all the time. I will definitely be purchasing more of the Komachi series of knives.
