I bought this because it was listed as compatible with my new Ariens 2010 that I bought this year. Even with free shipping, it was here in three days.
The first gotcha was that the bolts to attach it to the plate on the back of the tractor were the wrong size and were too large to fit into the pre-drilled holes. In the next size down, I bought some carriage bolts, nuts, lock washers, and fender washers and rigged it up to fit. The cheap bolts I bought weren't strong enough, so they broke off completely. Bought better ones and they've been working fine.
The next problem is that the bags do not secure very well at all. They constantly fall off. If you have a nice, smooth, flat lawn, with no hills or bumps, I'm sure it would work fine. I do not, so I have to keep a nice long bungee cord to wrap around it and through the handles to keep the lid down and the bags from falling out.
The next problem was that the chute is just a tad too long and shaped poorly for good distribution amongst both bags. Fortunately, the plastic of the chute, though durable, is rather easy to cut, so it wasn't too difficult to shape it better for good distribution.
Beyond these initial problems that I had to solve, I now have very little difficulty with it. Easy to load and unload, easy to remove and install on the tractor.
In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have tried to save the $50 bucks by buying this model, because I more than made up for it in repeated trips to the hardware store and time spent on various attempts of getting it attached to the tractor and various methods of securing the bags and lid.

I purchased this bagger for my Ariens 42" hydrostatic lawn tractor. I was going to purchase it at Home Depot but they were asking $299. I couldn't be happier with this product. It was SUPER easy to install and it works like an absolute charm. This is my first riding mower and I couldn't believe how much grass it collected. One amateur mistake I made was not having garbage cans to dump the clippings into. I have always used compost bags that are easy to dump into when you I use my push mower, but the bagger holds a TON of clippings and the bags wouldn't stay open so I ended up making a mess which was easy to clean up.
I highly recommend this product. Like I said, it's easy to install, it holds a ton of clippings and it's very easy to empty. They even put some nifty handles on the bags making them easy to shake out. Just buy it already!

Purchased and installed this on a new Ariens 20hp, 42 inch cut hydrostatic.
Pros; Package delivered in 3 days (wow)
Extremely easy to mount/install, only four bolts!
Look and feel of heavy duty materials, should last the life of the mower.
Cons; Bags are smaller than my previous mower so a few more trips to empty will be required, but this might be a good thing since the filled bag will also be lighter.
The chute is a bit narrower than my previous mower which will probably make it clog easier cutting damp grass.
Conclusion;
This must be a fairly standard design. It's exactly like the bagger my neighbor has on his Craftsman mower that he purchased a year or so ago.
A bit overpriced in my opinion. Should have waited 'til late June/July for a price reduction.
Overall a satisfied buyer.
